Iron Fisted Monk (1977) Sammo Hung, Chan Sing

From Kung Fu Cinema:

The fights are the main seller here. Sammo mixes it up with a number of excellent battles involving various weapons and kung fu techniques such as Fung Hak On’s excellent northern Mantis Fist and Chan Sing’s various southern boxing forms. Although the action doesn’t reach the technical brilliance of Warriors Two (1978) or The Prodigal Son (1982), the climatic and bloody final bout featuring both Sammo and Chan Sing must be seen by even casual fans.
...
Overall, Sammo hits the right notes in this film with uniformly terrific kung fu action. For his level of creativity and genius when it comes to action, the film also enjoys the distinction of being one of the best of its kind from the era and is certainly a landmark title. With Chan Sing in a memorable role that aptly features his rugged skills and a cast of familiar faces, many of whom would go on to stardom in the future, The Iron Fisted Monk deserves recognition as a true classic of the genre.

The final showdown is really well done and has a nice touch of humor. Note that this is Sammo Hung's directorial debut. Already his genius showed through.

Not a great fight by any means but still entertaining enough I suppose. I just like seeing Sammo Hung and Wu Jing fight. I'd recommend watching Fatal Contact if you haven't already. It showcases Wu Jing's talent excellently.

IMDB

A clash of the titans. Sammo Hung vs Lau Kar Leung. It's a dream come true. It's also the sole merit of this so-so comedy/drama.
A long time hard to obtain on dvd, you can now buy it from HKFlix

I used to have a dvd of this film, but I couldn't find it anymore. My dvds have a habit of disappearing mysteriously.
So I downloaded a dvdrip and cut out the fight for you. Quality could be a lot better.

The greatest working martial artist today isn't Jet Li, it's Donnie Yen. While I like Jet Li as much as the next kungfu lover, I have to admit watching his recent movies, especially Fearless, gives me an impression of deja-vu. It seems like we have seen all his moves before.
Donnie Yen, on the other hand, doesn't stop trying to invent and improve himself. From Legend of the Wolf to SPL to Flash Point, he has given us some of the most inventive fights ever filmed in the history of cinema.
When Yen goes against Wu Jing, it's retractable baton against knife in what is arguably the most brutal, colorful, exciting and spectacular one-on-one combat ever.
The use of color and lighting, the soundtrack and the rhythms of the fight work exceptionally well. You have never seen anything like this before and you probably won't see anything like it again for a very long time.
The final showdown between Yen and Sammo Hung is also very well done, where Donnie Yen incorporated for the first time(?) MMA into the traditional style of onscreen fighting. It was an absolute success.
2 years later, Donnie Yen went on and outdo himself yet again in Flash Point (2007) where MMA is used to even greater effect.
